Do More Website Pages Boost Google Sales?
Local Business Marketing, SEO Strategy, Google Rankings
Does Having More Pages on a Website Mean More Sales from Google?
The short summary is, having 20 well made pages is better than having 50 average website pages. And external factors matter a lot like :
Do you exist on other places on the internet?
Do you have trust badges on the website?
Do you have reviews?
Do you have a social media or youtube following?
Basic Website Structure :
1 - Home Page
2 - About Us Page
3 - Contact Us Page
4 - Services Page - Minimum 1, Maximum 1 for each (Controversial)
5 - Join Us Page - for Hiring Needs
Should You have 1 Service Page or 1 for Each Service?
Service Pages Work — When They're Specific, Not Copy-Paste
Here's the problem with how most agencies build service pages.
They write one page for "Plumbing Services." Then they copy it, change a few words in the headline, and call it "Water Heater Services." Then "Drain Cleaning Services." Then "Emergency Plumbing Services."
Same content. Same structure. Just different titles.
Google sees this and thinks: "This is the same page repeated four times." So it ignores three of them.
Copy-paste pages don't work. Specific pages do.
How to Structure a Service Page That Actually Converts
Here's the layout I use:
Heading: "What is [Service X]?"
Answer the question directly in 2-3 sentences. Tell them exactly what the service is in plain language.
"We Can Do It For You"
State clearly that you provide this service. Include your service area. Show you're local and available.
"When Do You Need [Service X]?"
This is where you showcase authority. Give specific scenarios:
If problem 1 happens (e.g., "Your water heater is making banging noises")
If problem 2 happens (e.g., "Your water is coming out rusty or discolored")
This positions you as the expert who understands their situation.
Google Maps Embed
Show them exactly where you are. Local trust matters.
Footer with Click-to-Call
Make it impossible to miss. Big button. Opens the dialer on mobile.
That's it. Specific. Helpful. Built for conversion.
Not 800 words of fluff written for a keyword tool.
But Here's What Most People Miss
Service pages alone are not enough anymore.
Why? Because everyone has them. Your competitors have service pages too.
To stand out, you need supporting content.
Short 200-300 word blog posts or YouTube videos answering frequently asked questions:
"Why is my AC leaking?"
"How often should I flush my water heater?"
"How much does a roof replacement cost?"
These small pages don't get direct traffic from SEO. But they get suggested by AI.
When someone asks ChatGPT or Google's AI for a recommendation, the AI looks for businesses that have answered these questions clearly. If you're the source, you get recommended.
That's the new game. Be the source AI cites.
You need to continuosly improve and add more pages, that's my personal take. Adding 2 pages to your website every month, with such pages will help with Ai recommendations.
The Bottom Line
More pages don't mean more sales.
A few strategic pages plus trust signals do.
And if you want to win, have many high quality pages, but still external factors are more important.
That's exactly how I build websites for home services businesses.
At Inbox Stream, I build fast, conversion-focused websites with a strong homepage and basic pages, 3-5 high-intent service pages, and click-to-call functionality.
Then I add 1-2 pages per month — only pages that actually matter — answering real homeowner questions.
All included in a $150/month plan that also covers review management, directory listings, and content creation.
And here's the best part: I only work with one contractor per trade, per city.
So when I build your website, I'm not helping your competitor beat you.
